On October 10, 2024, four foreign-owned companies were honored at the annual Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Slovenia Awards, organized by the Ministry of Economy and SPIRIT Slovenia.

These awards recognize the valuable contributions of foreign investors to the Slovenian economy, particularly in terms of innovation, sustainability, and local job creation.

2024 Award winners are:

  • Henkel Maribor d.o.o., part of Germany’s Henkel, won best large company. Operating in Slovenia for 30 years, it employs 500 people and recently invested €10 million in a local hair dye competence center.
  • Avantpack d.o.o., a producer of biodegradable bags, won best small or medium-sized company. The company, partially owned by Italy’s Pool Pack, achieved €25 million in turnover and leads in sustainable packaging solutions.
  • Ekolat d.o.o., a mozzarella producer owned by Italy’s Sabelli, was recognized for its local economic impact. Exporting 97% of its products, it boosts Slovenia’s food brand globally.
  • Lumentum d.o.o., part of the US-based Lumentum Optics, won best smart company. Specializing in optical fibers for industrial lasers, it is among the most advanced tech firms in the region.
